ACS Mission:The Austin High Academy for Classical Studies (ACS) is a humanities-based, interdisciplinary program rooted in the search for truth, beauty, and goodness in the world.

Funding Travel for Everyone:ACS is committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to participate in our carefully designed outside-the-classroom learning experiences.

Community Partners Program
Our goal is to raise $25,000 by December 31, 2022 to provide scholarships to ensure every student is able to participate in our learning experiences.
To raise these needed funds, we reach out to you, our families and corporate partners, to help ensure equal opportunities for each and every one of our students. All ACS families participate in funding their travel, and we want to ensure that those who need some additional help are able to participate in the growth, education, and life-long love of learning and understanding that our travel program provides. |
Education by Experience:
An important goal of ACS is to expose students to the wonders of our world and through such exposure, instill in them a lifelong appreciation for different cultures and parts of the world that they may not ordinarily experience. We hope that our travel program instills in our students a lifelong love of learning, understanding, curiosity, and kindness.
ACS freshmen participate in a variety of educational experiences related to the arts, are exposed to the world’s religions, and participate in off-campus activities that specifically relate to the program’s four pillars—thinking kindly, speaking eloquently, writing persuasively, and living ethically. Sophomores travel to Marfa and Big Bend National Park, taking in both the arts and the natural beauty of the area, including a star show at McDonald Observatory. Juniors travel either to New Mexico, where they focus on cultural exchange with the Navajo or Pueblo tribes, or to South Dakota, where they engage in service learning and becoming acquainted with the Lakota culture. And seniors journey to Assisi, Florence, and Rome, Italy to experience the wonders of the historic arts and culture of the region. |
